The end of summer ...

Scott Thomas's latest photo challenge over at Views Infinitum, asked us to to show what constitutes the end of summer for us.

It's been a long, unseasonably hot summer here in Nova Scotia.

For me, the end of summer means the coming of fall.   Autumn is my favourite season.  The cooler nights make for easier sleeping and cooler days are perfect for hiking.   The cooler weather causes the leaves to start turning, and the woods are alive with colour.

But it is nice to sit outside on a lovely summer's day.  I'll miss that.

Warm summer-time paddles over to Lawlor Island -- I'll miss that.

Dipping my hand into the ocean to marvel out its wonders -- I'll miss that.

Or dipping my hand into my backyard pond and checking out its wonders -- I'll miss that.

They're baby salamanders.
Oh and the length of the days -- I'll miss being able to go walking at 8 in the evening with the sun still out.

Oh dear.   I thought I was OK with summer being done.
